Jaqueline~ Victorian doll sculpt & baby stroller

Hello dear visitor~*grin*
Firstly, I would like to invite you to visit my marionette blog , if you have not. This is a small traveling theater that my children and I perform our fairy tales shows. If you like this type of art, you may enjoy reading how I made the marionettes and all the things to go with it. We had first show this past Friday and yesterday. It was a blast! I will be posting there next!*grin*
Now, I am posting here my newly creation-Jacqueline. She is a hand sculpted Victorian Lady. She is missing her parasol but I will add at my auction some time this week.
I know these two don't go together but I because I have listed both at ebay , I am doing just one post. The little stroller is a modern style ,not Victorian, although I consider some time to make an old fashion one, I like the modern because it is not easy to find .

Swan lake ballerina and mini ballerinas too!

It is funny how I can at times have the *exactly* idea of what I am making and then at other times I am clueless until the sculpt is ready to be costumed.
Alyss became Swan Lake but when i was sculpting her I was thinking of a ballet teacher in a class room setting . When I added her black hair ... I had no other thoughts than make her like a ballerina ready to perform....

Ballet and ballerinas are dear to my heart. I danced professionally for the Miami Ballet Company.... YEARS ago that is for sure, grin, but I can tell you that the joy and memories *never* left my mind and heart . making ballerinas figurines is a true joy for me specially at this scale that requires so much patience , time and effort.
The reason I came up with Ballerinas for this time was because since Feb I have been listening once a week to Classical ballet music . I am working on my Christmas items to build up an inventory and the music was so lovely .... my thoughts were ...mmmmm... dancing....grin

Vanessa is so tiny and darling..... she measures only 2" tall, but she is full of personality. I just love her little profile because she has a perfect little nose!*grin*

Olivia is holding her thoughts to her self. She has hopes to be a *real*ballerina one day ....

You can see more by visiting my auction ... click the left tab!

Thank you for stopping by and for * all* your comments. Don't be a stranger.... I love to hear from you !*smiles*

Mini Birthday Party!

I finished these little children and they are all listed at ebay. The little boy is my favorite... he is not very happy to be the only boy invite.*grin*

I was thinking of my oldest son, Kevin, when I made little Thomas. Although I home school my children, some of them went to a Christian school years ago before I started. Kevin went only for one year ... it was kindergarten.
Kevin has always been a sweet boy....today he is a 6.2' tall almost 16 years old kid that still kisses me at least 3 times a day and still asks me daily what can he do for me.
When he was in KG all the girls liked him very much ,grin, in fact one time there was a birthday party for one of them. The girl sent an invitation to Kevin. It was a barbie party. In the invitation the girl asked Kevin to come and bring "ken"! My husband I and I laugh about it. Kevin did not go and the mother told me later on that the girl cried! I felt terrible and wish I knew that it was so important to her , but at that time I thought it was cute but not realistic as I already knew the party was for girls only.... well... except for Kevin.

Kimberly later on was able to come and play with Kevin!*grin*

Cheddar is done!*grin*

If you just stop by for the first time, please read my previous ( 2 ) posts . *grin*
While I was making *mini Cheddar* I did not let the children see it because I want their reaction for when I was done with him. Children are very honest about likes and dislikes and I appreciate that. When I first show Cheddar to Becca, she had the biggest smile on her face and all kinds of ohhh, awww could be heard! She LOVED it!*big grin*
This was a *big* challenge for me. I am still learning how to sculpt horses.... One would think the face is not as hard, but boy , I find it very difficult!
Mini Cheddar here looks like the real one right now... with his winter coat.I had a lot of fun and few tears when I was making him , but over all, I can say that I am happy. What do you think ? does he look like my Becca's real Cheddar? I would LOVE to hear from you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheddar WIP day 1,2 &3

*** you can click on pictures to view enlarged***

Hello dear visitors!*grin*

If you visited by last post or if you are just stopping by now, I am doing a work in progress of my first miniature Horse. When ever I can , I like to use my own animals as inspiration. One of the advantage of that is that I can get lost of pictures from different angles , in which I find very important and helpful for both sculptures in clay and wool.

I also spend sometime looking at the animal... I like to get the *sense* of them specially the eyes. I believe *there* lays the life of miniature animals as well for dolls.

If I try to sculpt the entire animals in one day , most likely it will NOT be my best. There is something about leaving it alone and coming back to it.... I find refresh ...just like when I do my oil paintings.... grin.

I am taking my time with little cheddar and hopefully it will pay off.

Below is DAY 1:

I first sculpted his face... I always do that. having the pictures enlarged and in a small size helps a lot .

The first time I sculpt an animal is always more difficult because once I add the wool he will change for better or worse. There is a * giving/taken* that is more mental than visual....

Cheddar is a little taller than my sheep .... I am glad I had a sheep to do a comparison. When making a miniature animals everything is important or it will NOT be right at the end. I must be careful with the size, sculpt likeness and wool application. *grin*

Day 3:
It took me 2 days of work on the first step. After I sculpted cheddar and fully fired him, I sanded him with a power tool.I would normally had painted his body but because he is fully hair and I will not let any bald spot to be showing, I only painted his face and feet.

For you to have an idea , each leg took me about 30 minutes to add fur. The direction of the wool, plus the right amount of glue and its application is something I need to be so careful. If I trim the wool to soon, the wool will flat and it is not good.... if I wait too long , the wool will stiff and I can not settle the wool how I need.... decisions...decision.... *grin*
He looks funny here because the wool is only partial cut.. much more ahead to come....

I am very happy in how his face is coming along. If i am not happy with the face , why bother with the rest? Can you see his mid forehead? the wool has the twist just like the real cheddar.... ohhh , I like that.
More to come soon....

Cheddar ~ Becca's miniature Horse~

I am posting a little differently than my usual. I am sharing with you some of my farm animals pictures and showing you a horse that I am making right now. The real one , shown here is Cheddar. He belongs to my younger daughter ,Rebbeca. Becca is a very gentle girl and since she was little she loved horses. We are not set up to have large ones so few years ago, you got Cheddar. He is tiny and cute.don't you agree with me? Okay... a little fat belly due to the fact that , I think Becca gives him too much treats!*grin*

Cheddar is a very gentle horse.... can you tell?

I love this picture here..... it shows trust and friendship!*grin*

Becca is telling him her secrets...*grin*

The little dog is *Rose* , Gabby's chiauau. All my animals get along so well... some times I am surprised of that but than again I think this is one of the reasons I love animals - they are not like people!*sigh*

Most of my merino wool comes from Charles...the ram you see...he has some of the finest wool you can imagine .... I forgot the number of micron....

Our animals are cared by my husband my children and I, therefore they are very tamed . the sheep runs to greet us and some of them we can even hold.
I hope you like the *tour* and the pictures... I was going to post on my woolytales blog but because I am working on *cheddar* I thought would be nice for you to see in where I am inspired most of the time.
Soon....*grin*
