Kiva's incredible miniatures

Hello Everyone!*grin*
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and are enjoying the holidays as much as I am!
I want to share with you the work of a fantastic artisan, Kiva.
She is an IGMA Fellow artisan that makes miniature food. Her work is quite unusual in which in my opinion, very interesting and unique. When I look the variety of food that Kiva has made, many times I can not tell if the minis are real or not. The one thing that I love so much about her work is the details. She is a master! Please click on the pictures to go to her blog. These pictures are just a small sample of kiva's delightful work!*smiles*

Ragdoll cat and polar bear

I was not planning to list this rag doll until next year but I changed my mind. He/she is now listed on ebay.
Cats are one of the most challenge animals for me to do. I find that I have a long way to improve and to be honest with you sometimes I make up to 3 cats to finish just one.
The faces are the hardest for me but trimming the wool is pretty hard too. This cat is just a little over 1" and been at this size the details can be lost during the making process.

I make my own glass eyes for all my animals. Finding the *right* size for the cats was another struggle. I used to make a 2mm size and not I make 3mm and I think this made a huge difference on the cats in total, after all the life of the animal are the eyes, won't you agree with me? they need to be just right!*grin*

Momma bear and cub still available at ebay. I will miss this set very much. Momma bear has an expression that reminds me of my self. I am a mother of 7 and their is nothing in this world more precious to me than my children, grin, Momma bear is not a young bear and her muzzle will tell you and life was not very easy either.... alright, alright... why not have some fairy tale to it?*smiles*
please click on pictures to view both auctions!
* My copy and paste is not working. If you like to view these auctions, please click on the bear on the post below and then click my other items. Sorry!

I love to take pictures outside because of the natural light is great but also because I love my farm so very much! This was a fun picture!

This howling wolf is also one of my smallest ones. the teeth is so small is hard to see on the picture but he has 4 on the front and 2 on each side ( very pointed)

His face took me longer to sculpt than normal because I study 6 different pictures to get it right. At the end , I was happy!*grin*

Roombox progress pictures

It has been about 3 months since I started working on my first roombox. The wall you see here is my main wall.Everything was handmade , even the windows. I did not use the store bought ones. The wood borders were done with a jig bit and all the pieces are ready to be attach and to be paint.
The space you see on the bottom is for the fire place. Below I am telling you my plans!*grin*

When I go to bed at night ... let me fix this .... when I FINALLY go to bed ,*grin* , I still think about things and most of my ideas comes from this time on. On the right you see an old frame from an antique container that I used to have. I used the flowers from that piece to create my pulleys for the curtains. The white piece is the plaster negative mold and the other one is my positive mold. The one the back you can see my pulleys.I used brass rods and the flowers were made from liquid fiber glass ( love that stuff!). Then gold leaf was applied and sealed. There are 2 sizes , the larger are for the top and the smaller for the sides.

Number 1 i am showing you a brick wall from a miniature train set. Number 2 is my negative mold made from fiberglass. Number three is my fireplace. I have only used shellac as based coat... still have to paint and detail . I want my fire place to look real and this molding process took about 10 days of work because I was not happy with the original train set .

To make the wood frames one need tools. I am blessed to have just the right thing.

This is the top of my room. The silver you see is a foil used to reflect light. Although my room will be electric I still wanted the light to reflect the windows because my main wall has a 4inches space to allow depth and reality. Oh , when I have all set you will understand!*grin*

Miniature Christmas Tree

I was hoping to post the tree inside my first room box but because I was working with my first miniature porcelain doll, I was not able to finish the room although I am still working on it. I have hope that I will be able to post the room's picture before Christmas but I am not sure. I don't want to rush my self as I am enjoying making this room so very much .Yesterday I had all the wood frames cut on my table saw and today is painting day. I still have to run all the electric wiring and finish making my sconces then I will be ready to set up.
Here is the tree. I bought this tree plain and in a natural color. I dyed few times to get to the color I wanted. The color was very important to me. I did not want to look like a artificial tree like but rather a *real* tree. It is a large tree also measuring 8" total with the ornament. I wanted to be this big because my room has high ceilings ( 11 1/2" tall) and any other size would look silly.I have to make the skirt too.... lots to do on real and mini life!*grin*

All the ornaments are hand made. The tiny details are of course the most important ones. The painted ornaments are the most favorite among the children... they seems fascinated specially at night when one is allowed to turn on the 36 colors mini lights.
I should be posting my first doll soon. She is all ready just patiently sitting and waiting for her pictures. *smiles*
